USA Cape Cod - MassachusettsFrom the birthplace of the nation, Plymouth, Cape Cod extends out around Massachusetts Bay to Provincetown, where the Pilgrim Fathers first put ashore in 1620 after their epic voyage on the Mayflower. Many of the towns and villages of the Cape have English names, such as Barnstable, Harwich, Sandwich, Yarmouth and Chatham. Cape Cod is a popular holiday destination, offering great beaches, many whale watching cruises from Hyannis and Provincetown, and visits to the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Nearby Plymouth has a fascinating replica Mayflower and also Plimoth Plantation, a reconstruction of the Pilgrim Fathers first village. Flights from the UK arrive at Boston, and overnights are available here to allow visits to this historic and interesting city on the Charles River.
