ork City is Ireland's third city and has always been an important seaport. Originally built on an island in marshland of the River Lee, it slowly spread up the steep banks on either side. Nowadays the river flows through Cork City in two main channels, so that visitors seem to be forever crossing bridges. Walking is certainly the way to explore Cork City, and there is a signposted Walking Tour linking the major sights, including St Finn Barre's Cathedral, the Old Gaol, and of course the Beamish & Crawford Brewery.
Direct Flights arrive at Cork Airport. There is also a car ferry service from Swansea to Cork.
